What is Applied behavior analysis (aba)?

Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA Therapy, is applying the science of learning and behavior to socially significant goals to foster meaningful behavior change.

ABA is:

Measurable   We identify behaviors that are observable and measurable.

Socially Significant   Behaviors targeted in therapy should always be socially significant, important to the individual, and sensitive to the culture and community.

Research Driven   ABA therapy is derived from over 50 years of empirical research resulting in a variety of behavioral concepts and techniques.

Data Driven   Decision making that guides the therapy is always data driven and objective.

Meaningful Change   Teaching strategies and interventions result in meaningful change for the individual across multiple settings and situations.

ABA can help us identify:

·       How behavior works

·       How the environment effects behavior

·       How learning takes place

ABA can address:

·       Communication skills

·       Social and play skills

·       Academic, classroom, and cognitive skills

·       Adaptive and independent living skills

·       Undesirable behaviors that are harmful to the individual or the community
